A woman kneads andiroba nut paste at an andiroba oil production site in Sao Domingos, in the Tapajos National Forest in Brazil's Amazonian state of Para, Sept. 3, 2005. The sustainable project seeks to improve the economy of the region by exploiting the riches of the forest while leaving it intact. Men of the community venture into the forest to collect the nuts of the andiroba tree while the women produce the oil. Andiroba Oil is an emollient nut oil which has been processed from the seeds or nuts of the Amazonian tree, Carapa guianensis. The locals in the Amazon have used andiroba oil for centuries as a natural insect repellent and anti-inflammatory. (AustralFoto/Douglas Engle)
