Bus
Read MoreCustomers line up to buy tickets at the Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, bus station, Aug. 2, 2007.Two major air crashes in less than 11 months, killing some 350 people, have highlighted problems long ignored in Brazil's aviation industry. While some Brazilians shrug off the problems, others simply head for the bus station rather than face long delays, sometimes longer than a bus journey, at airports. Bus stations and operators welcome the increase in passengers and hope it will stay that way by offering luxury and executive class service which offer more amenities than bargain airlines. Traveling by highway is also dangerous - over 600 people were killed on federal highways in July 2007 alone. (Australfoto/Douglas Engle)
