Construction of the Petrobras P51 platform, billed as the largest in the world, in Angra dos Reis, about 2 hours west of Rio de Janeio, Brazil. The platform is a landmark for Brazilian naval construction - it is the first semi-submersible built entirely in the country and will have 70% Brazilian components when finished. The P51, the P52, which is already operating, and the future P56 all come from the same basic design and have given new life to the once dormant shipyard. As the price of oil continues to rise and Brazil strikes more and more extremely deep offshore oil, workers hope to keep their jobs for many years to come.(Australfoto/Douglas Engle)
