Esdras Hector a Haitian immigrant in a gymnasium in Epitaciolandia, in Brazil's Amazonian state of Acre, on the border with Bolivia. Esdras left his home in Gonaives, Haiti, on March 11 this year and made it to the Brazilian Amazon on April 15 after a four week pilgrimage by plane, bus and on foot. Hundreds, if not thousands, of Haitians are showing up in Brazil - after an odyssey through Equador, Peru and Bolivia - with hopes of gaining residency as refugees in South America's largest nation.
