Maria Selma da Costa sits with her children and nephews and nieces near Caapiranga in the Brazilian state of Amazonas, Nov. 4, 2010. da Costa and other residents of Caapiranga are feeling the effects of the record drought in the region as goods and services have virtually stopped arriving in the town town which is only accessable by river or air. River levels broke the previous drought record which was set only 5 years ago, a frequency which environmental groups say are a direct result of deforestation and global warming.
